This is an unbelievable special organization with outsized impact. We at Fervo Energy are extremely grateful for the support we got from Activate in our earliest days.

We talk abstractly about 'clean firm power' as a resource class, but there is a frighteningly small pool of techs with the potential to actually deliver it at scale before 2050: next-gen geothermal, advanced nuclear, and (with methane leakage mitigation) Allam-cycle gas

A lot of traditional software VC focuses on the mythical moment where a startup gets product-market fit. We need an equivalent for hardware, where often the market is well understood, but you don’t achieve liftoff until you demonstrate your tech can achieve established metrics.

“there will be massive and growing demand for so-called “clean firm” power…if Fervo can demonstrate that it can produce power at scale at costs comparable to conventional geothermal projects, it can expect a massive market for it.” heatmap.news/economy/make-o…

I loved working on this piece with Matthew Zeitlin on 10 'make or break' clean energy projects we're keeping an eye on. Which ones do you think will earn a spot on the grid of the future? heatmap.news/economy/make-o…

Exciting news in the geothermal startup world. Congrats to Carl, Joel and our friends at Zanskar on this milestone! A great set of investors including Obvious Ventures to have getting on board the geothermal train with their backing of Zanskar.

One way incumbents underestimate startups is in how quickly they can learn and attract talent to close a skills gap.

I’ve heard incumbents dismiss startups by saying “I met with them years ago and they were so naive about X thing”. Good startups will close that gap so fast.

Enhanced geothermal is a real, functioning, cost-effective technology today, can provide clean firm power, and has practically unlimited upside.

Wild that it doesn’t get more attention. Literally checks all the boxes.

One for all the geothermal/transmission fans out there. Great weekend doing the on a combined @FervoEnergy + Grid United team. Raised money for a good cause, rode a lot of miles, and had great convos on getting clean firm power to market!

Most energy transition analysis is oversimplified when it looks at how O&G, as an industry, will fare. There are massive differences in upstream, downstream, midstream and OFS business models and capabilities that leads to completely different positioning in the transition.

Rare and truly unique job posting: Chief of Staff at Fervo Energy. Perhaps the most interdisciplinary role at a very interdisciplinary company. Incredible opportunity for a whip smart go-getter with the right mix of hunger, organization and creativity. fervoenergy.com/career/chief-o…

Thought we were done with this Sightline Climate (CTVC) FOAK series? NOAK! Think again.

Before we set you off on your merry deployment way, we’ve got one more project scaling step left from Pilot to FOAK, now to NOAK and beyond

Always wild to think that one of the sunniest and windiest places in the world also happens to be right on top of the Permian Basin where currently there is 6 million barrels/day of oil production. Texas is ridiculously blessed energy state.

Well said! We have a long way to go to address climate change, but it’s very important to recognize that progress is being made. Otherwise we risk losing momentum on things that are working already.

Giving 25,000 MWs of new AI load a pass from sticking to 24/7 goals is not a good take. It can both be the case that data center load will remain less than 5% of total electricity load and be extraordinarily disruptive if not paired with new power…

Houston has bad weather, no natural beauty, and little history. But that’s a feature, not a bug. It means government has to be responsive to the people to create a place people and businesses want to locate. It must be efficient with taxpayer money and consider tradeoffs. It must…
