Today Britain’s first female neurosurgeon, Diana Beck, has been commemorated with a blue plaque 🔵 The plaque will mark her former home and consulting rooms in Marylebone where she lived while working at Middlesex Hospital as its very first neurosurgeon. 🧠

🔵 Diana Beck achieved many more firsts in her career including being one of the first female neurosurgeons in the world and the first woman appointed to a senior clinical position at any of the major London teaching hospitals. 🏥

🔵While living at this house, Beck operated on her most famous patient: Winnie the Pooh author, A.A Milne who suffered a stroke. The Times described Beck’s life-saving operation as ‘a remarkable piece of surgery’. 🩺 Read more ➡️bit.ly/3Tge21U
