Congratulations to partners in the North East. It is encouraging to see further and deeper #devolution across the North.

It is vital that the whole potential of the North is maximised through devolution, especially for those places that do not yet have a deal.

It was a fantastic opportunity for business, political and civic leaders to collaborate and create a Manifesto for the North.

Below Clare Hayward, Interim Chair of the NP11, reflects on the event ⬇️

This #InternationalWomensDay we'd like to thank and celebrate all the amazing women across the North who are helping to realise our ambitions for a thriving region.

We'd particularly like to salute all of the women who played a pivotal role in last week's #ConventionOfTheNorth .

New devolution deals were confirmed in the Spring Budget yesterday, following Michael Gove's announcements at #COTN24 .

While the North is leading the way, we need to ensure all regions benefit. Collaboration is key for maximum impact.

The afternoon begins with two participants from West Yorkshire Combined Authority's young poet laureate reading their poems on the topic of being Northern.

A fantastic panel featuring a range of Northern leaders discussing the key priorities highlighted by Clare Hayward in her earlier speech:

Over 60 young people from nine schools across the North are making their voices heard on what a better North looks like to them thanks to Citizens UK.
