We often talk about the 'Sounders', the grey whales that feed in Puget Sound, but they're not the only grey whales in the Salish Sea right now. For the last week or so, several grey whales have been feeding and socializing near Vancouver, BC.

In addition to dorsal fins & saddle patches, eye patches can also be used to identify individual killer whales. This helps when matching pics where the dorsal fin and saddle patch aren't visible, like this one of T019B 'Galiano'.

Sam Murphy of Island Adventures recently took this fun photo of three fallow deer on Spieden Island. Native to Europe & the Middle East, the deer were brought to Spieden 50+ years ago to stock a short-lived hunting lodge.
Earlier this week we shared that there have been 8 new calves added to the coastal Bigg's killer whale population so far in 2024. One of those little ones is T030B3, the third calf of T030B 'Lyra' (born in 1993). π₯Ή

On Monday, naturalist Bart Rulon of Puget Sound Express captured some of the best pics of Bigg's killer whales we've ever seen. The speed and power of these animals is incredible! π€―π€―π€―

It may be April Fools' Day, but it's no joke how much we love whales! Over the weekend we were lucky to see T99E, the youngest member of the T99 matriline, breaching up a storm near Mukilteo, WA.
