It’s a huge question, and this piece is just as enormous! We can’t wait to sing Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius with @Philharmonia Roderick Williams Daniel Norman Jennifer Johnston on May 16 at @Southbankcentre - find out more and buy tickets here - thebachchoir.org.uk/concerts/the-d…
The Bach Choir Roderick Williams Philharmonia Orchestra Always an exciting moment when you start rehearsing a new work. So it is today with Roderick Williams ‘Cusp’ The Bach Choir and so looking forward to how it all sounds. Motivating word tonight? #RHYTHM !! Pitches will arrive more gradually. Rhythm rarely does that in my experience.
Thanks to Katie Derham for mentioning our new commission composed by Roderick Williams and Rommi Smith 'Cusp' on BBC Radio 3 on Good Friday. We've been enjoying this work-in-progress that Roddy shared with us, and can't wait to get stuck into rehearsing it tonight!
The 1963 Britten War Requiem recording was called the third best of all time by BBC Music Magazine. We're proud to have been involved - on 30 Oct we sing it live with David Hill, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Youth Choirs & fantastic soloists. By your tickets now - thebachchoir.org.uk/concerts/war-r…
This is Cusp by Roderick Williams (text by Rommi Smith). It acts as a prequel to The Dream of Gerontius & raises important questions about mortality, which we don't talk about enough. We premiere it with David Hill Philharmonia Orchestra on 16 May. Hear more - thebachchoir.org.uk/concerts/the-d…
Happy Easter. Here’s an excerpt of ‘We Bow Our Heads in Tears and Sorrow’ from Bach’s masterpiece, the St Matthew Passion - recorded at @SouthbankCentre with London Youth Choirs and Florilegium.
This text by @RommiSmith is from our upcoming world premiere composed by Roderick Williams. 'Cusp' is a companion piece to Elgar’s #TheDreamofGerontius . If Rommi's words stir your emotions, imagine what David Hill and Philharmonia Orchestra will add to this gorgeous poetry on 16 May!
