Encountering the mighty Chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) near the Bromore Cliffs during our evening stroll. Not an odd encounter in Kerry but still very enjoyable 😁 The genus Pyrrhocorax is from Ancient Greek Ο€Ο…ΟΟΟŒΟ‚ (pyrrhos) meaning "flame-coloured" and κόραξ (korax) "raven".

Yesterday’s BTO CES 3 Lake Hotel Killarney NP produced 28 birds of 11 species. First juveniles of the year inc Dunnock, Blue Tit, Goldcrest and Stonechat (also new species ringed here). Our second Great Spotted Woodpecker was the male breeding nearby National Parks and Wildlife Service BirdWatch Ireland

Here is to another successful CES BTO in Killarney Park with many scruffy looking birdies trying to molt in peace! Very interesting to see the evolution of the breeding season through the breeding condition of each birds over the last 6 weeks 🐦

Busy 24 hours of autumn migration BTO ringing at Clogheen Marsh resulting in 203 birds of 28 species captured. First was a swallow roost catching 63 Swallow and 3 Sand Martin, but a real surprise 5 Icelandic White Wagtail, a Yellow Wagtail and a Long-eared Owl! National Parks and Wildlife Service 1/3

This last week has been amazing as I managed to get onto my ringing species list 3 new species: a long eared owl, an icelandic white wagtail and a yellow wagtail! A bonus pic of a Swallow as it was a Swallow Roost after all... πŸ¦β€β¬› thanks to Sam Sam Bayley and Alan Alan McCarthy
