And now the push for trans inclusion means new mothers being denied women-only support with breastfeeding (which many find really hard). This is appalling & real - not 'anti-trans culture wars'. Trustees of UK charity have complained to charity commission about US parent org

this is an *amazing* opportunity for 11-14s to have their creative writing read by Philip Pullman

This is 'progressivism' at its most vacuous.
We did x so people are freer, y must be next!
It's like let them eat rights:
instead of ensuring people have homes, healthcare, decent jobs, a non-climate-trashed future

Only Matt Hancock could take a subject as ethically fraught & complex as assisted dying and, in all seriousness, insinuate that those who hesitate about changing the law are - what? - on a par with homophobes, Matt?

What on earth does gay marriage have to do with it?

Asinine.

Good piece on assisted dying by Dr Rachel Clarke who knows more about dying than nearly all of us and says 'I really, truly don't know' whether law should be changed theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Some of the earliest female trade unionists were shopworkers - Margaret Bondfield was one of their organisers before becoming the first Labour woman cabinet minister - and it's fantastic to see their union voting for clarity around sex-based rights 🎉

I think something Starmer (and many others) completely fail to understand is just how traumatised many women are after years of abuse that was ignored by those who now think they can casually trot out the very statements that prompted these women's abuse in the first place

this is a heartbreaking story by Libby Brooks, it's extremely cruel to exploit teenagers' desire for intimacy and fear of humiliation for financial gain.
Yet another 'online harm' to which children & young adults are particularly susceptible - & from which they need protecting

Curious to know how many MPs apart from Labour's Ben Bradshaw still think starting the Iraq war was a good idea (and whether they watched superb doc series Once upon a time in Iraq) theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…

Harriet Wistrich's must-read book is out this week! Her contribution over several decades to the feminist criminal justice movement is second to none. So many landmark cases and Centre for Women's Justice a unique organisation 🫡
