SJ Chess came back to campus with some hardware! Over the weekend, a group went to Baltimore and placed in the Top 10 in the nation, with 9th place for Section U1900. In Houston, the team defended the championship trophy at the 2024 Catholic Schools Championship Chess Tournament.

On Holy Thursday night, our students participated in the Seven Churches Pilgrimage, where they venerated the Altars of Repose and recalled Christ’s suffering as he waited for his crucifixion. #amdg #wearesj

On Wednesday night, we held a Tenebrae service reflecting on the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Tenebrae is Latin for “darkness” or “shadows” and is a meditative preparation for the Triduum. May God bless our community this Triduum as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

Another Dads’ Club Breakfast Series is in the books! This morning, theology teacher Mr. Jeremy Dunford spoke about science, technology, and how to live a life of faith in the modern world. Our SJ dads had the opportunity to ask questions and grow in fellowship with each other.

To end off Strake Jesuit Vocations Week, students had the opportunity to hear about the holy sacrament of marriage on Thursday and the single life on Friday. Our faculty provided insight into their dating years, discernment, and how they keep God at the center of their lives.

Congratulations to 17 SJ students of the SAA/SJ Mixed Chorus who participated in the Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) Region 3 Solo and Ensemble competition and received the highest rating of a superior score on their performance! Bravo, gentlemen!
