Hard to explain to those who didn’t know her what a total force of nature she was, prone to eye-watering bursts of colourful language that would make a hardy sea-dog blush but a brilliantly instinctive director of some of ITN’s greatest programmes. We’ll never see her like again.

Diana Edwards-Jones was the floor manager on the first night of ITN in 1955. Di, or ‘DEJ’, has died aged 91. She became a great studio director on major live events such as Man on the Moon. In the 1980s I was privileged to sit alongside her being told what to do.

1. What is 'news' & 'current affairs' (no def). Should programmes be labelled?

2. What % of time reflects 'alternative perspectives' in a programme (no def.). 10-15% airtime? More?

Not true. That distinction does not appear in the law, the broadcast code or the Ofcom lguidance . It was created by a now departed Ofcom exec in a blog after GB News launched.
