A new piece I've just (almost) finished. It's part of a small series I'm doing in which I attempt to humanise classical 'monsters'.

But also it's an exercise for me in relation to developing my skills as a portrait/figurative painter.

I’ve always wanted to paint people but, as I believed that I couldn’t, I failed pretty quickly whenever I tried.

So I decided last month to do one so big that I had no choice other than to just get on with it (120x120 cm)
