This is so important. Politics really CAN make a difference. Shabby, flawed and cynical it may often seem, but it's still ours - and if we give up on it, we just leave it all to the worst possible people.

Absolutely. We have a real problem with 'astroturfing' in our broadcast and print media. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturf…)
Rather than shine a light on the fraudulent practice for democratic good, media has shamefully used these sources as easy clickbait in debate and comment.

Never knew about hemochromatosis until BBC Morning Live sent me to find out more, sometimes referred to as “The Celtic Curse” … thank you Stephen McGann for highlighting it for us. Report from five mins into show…

“Blagging and bigging up is now a respected industry. It used to be called bullshitting, but now it’s rebadged as Putting Yourself Out There and recognised as a professional skill set.”

Stephen McGann Fascinating BBC Morning Live report on too much iron in the blood (apologies, I get as far as ‘haema’ then fail). Do you know how we can get a test kit?

So. The line from Brain Central is back to 'coalition of chaos' if you vote for not-them. Even though chances of a hung parliament are currently thinner than my being an astronaut, and hypothetical chaos doesn't exactly dominate the mind of a public suffering the genuine article.

Today's press pollsters:
'Aaaah, but if you look at the election results *this way up*, you'll clearly see that the one in blue shorts is upright, and the one who punched his lights out is actually lying flat! It's a win for canvas-back!'

A radical rightwing former Home Secretary from the badly defeated party dominating the news commentary the day after an election tells you a lot about where we are today, and media's attitude to it.

This is an amazing thread, which proves many things - how microscopically Brexit has fucked everything up, for one - but mainly that truth and understanding - of anything - comes only with detail.

Conservatives concluding from the electorate's reponse that they should tack even more to the right made me think of this... youtu.be/mkcKQmr7kRc?si… via YouTube
