In 1978 a court was constructed in Papua New Guinea at the Mosa Palm Oil Plantation. Built by local labour who had no idea what a squash court looked like, led by a confused construction manager, it was used by employees and residents in the nearby town of Kimbe.

60 years ago today on 9 April 1964 Bryan Patterson (’64 pic) beat fellow Englishman Mike Young 3-9 9-7 8-10 9-1 9-5 to win the British Under 19 Open, (the ‘Drysdale’). Later, in 1973, he beat the 6th, 3rd and 2nd seeds to reach the final .....

This year marks 50 years since H.R.H. Prince Claus of the Netherlands opened new courts at The Hague in 1974, as squash began to expand in that country. Openings followed soon after in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Blaricum and Breda. Squash Bond NL

Jahangir Khan is one of only two players who have won a major final without losing a point. He did it at the ISPA Championship in England in 1982, aged 18, when he beat countryman Maqsood Ahmed 9-0 9-0 9-0 in 24 minutes. Maqsood (pictured) only served four times. Squash Info

Go back to 1938 to northern Nigeria, in Kaduna you would have seen two courts being built as a cement block trial. Meanwhile in Bauchi in the north east of the country there was a court (pic) that was double width, had no door, only an entrance halfway down the side.
