Prof Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik and Dr Natalie Eaton-Fitch collaborated on this project to determine the reliability and sensitivity of the NK cell model. NK cell cytotoxicity was consistently and significantly impaired in #pwMECFS compared with controls across 28 studies. #pwME

This research also emphasises the use of fresh samples, rather than frozen/thawed samples, as this affects the function and integrity of the cell. Our recent publication provides evidence for this pathomechanism model and the importance of sample appropriateness in biobanks.

NCNED research fellow, Dr Kiran Thapaliya, was invited to present at the Renegade Research International Research Roundtable for #MECFS. Dr Thapaliya’s presentation shared NCNED’s findings from 3T and 7T MRI studies identifying brain stem impairments in both #pwMECFS and #pwLC.
