Seems there is more bad will growing against Johnson after he opposed the warrant. Not just the Freedom Caucus who are unhappy 👇

Scoop: The DNC paid for Biden’s legal bills for the Hur probe, per 2 ppl familiar and FEC records.
The payments are at odds with some of the Biden team’s more recent attacks on Trump for using campaign cash for his legal bills.

Somebody needs to produce an infographic showing which House members today that A) voted to renew FISA today, B) are up for re-election, and C) that election is expected to be close.

Someone really needs to a study on the speed with which they turned out Mike Johnson, just instantly converting him into a completely different human being after just a few months of being made Speaker.

You almost have to find it impressive.

I have not seen the US Security State or war machine not get what it wants in Washington.

In the face of mass abuse of surveillance power, they just got renewed warrantless spying power on Americans.

They now have Mike Johnson working to get them the $60b to send to Ukraine.

Biden really pulled out all the stops today in his effort to avoid having the 4th Amendment's warrant requirement codified into law today. Hard to overstate how extraordinary this is—and that uniparty Republicans actively abetted it. Speaker Mike Johnson cast the tie-breaking vote!

History has repeatedly proven just how dangerous it can be when we sacrifice our rights to create a temporary – and ultimately false – sense of security. We must restore our Fourth Amendment rights.

Translation: 'When I was a member of Judiciary, I saw the abuses of the FBI, hundreds of thousands of abuses. And then when I became speaker, I got the confidential briefing from a different perspective: They said if I didn't support FISA, I wouldn't be speaker for much longer.'

It has been the leaders of the Democratic Party -- Obama, Pelosi, now Biden -- who have long been the primary defenders of the NSA and FBI's warrantless spying power.

On the amendment to require warrants for spying on Americans, 126 Democrats voted NO, joining 86 Republicans.

Congrats to the Biden WH, the NSA and FBI, and the establishment wings of both parties -- unified as usual -- on their success in defeating warrant requirements.

This is how the Constitution dies.

By a tie vote, the amendment to require a warrant to spy on Americans goes down in flames.

This is a sad day for America.

The Speaker doesn’t always vote in the House, but he was the tie breaker today. He voted against warrants.

The amendment vote on FISA 702 to require a warrant to search Americans’ communications, which, by the way, is something the Constitution ALREADY requires, fails 212-212.

Republicans voted in favor: 128-86
Democrats voted against: 84-126

Vote out every person who voted no.
