There's nothing to be lost and everything to be gained in treating everyone you interact with, especially those less fortunate, less powerful and less privileged than you, with respect, kindness, fairness and consideration.

Always, when you are offered a role think of it as a rope, you can throw it to others to help them up, you can use it to climb up yourself....or use it to descend when you have to. But remember, it can also entangle and throttle you as all ropes can.

Humility Check:

In a group, team, society, organisation, association, community, country, or relationship, resist the urge to over-essentialize yourself. You may matter, but not only you matter. With or without you, groups, teams, communities, people & countries keep going.

As a leader one of your key responsibilities is to have difficult conversations & deliver bad news.Most leaders fail this part dismally.Some completely avoid it others send proxies lie or do it terribly.Dont avoid it. Be honest, direct & empathetic but have the damn conversation!

The narcissistic leader, teacher, or boss claims credit for every success the ex team member, worker, and student, as the case may be goes on to attain. They delusionally believe it was their abuse or mistreatment of you that led to your success.

Leaving to go nowhere:

Often, when people announce they are leaving: jobs, organisations & even relationships, the question is: 'Where are you going?'

There is absolutely nothing wrong with leaving to go nowhere. Take time to reflect on where you really want & need to be first.

Some plants take years to bloom. The agave americana blooms once every 100 years. Just as beauty can take time to reveal itself, so does ugliness. It may take time for harmful people or things around you to reveal themselves.Don't be shocked. Just know it's always the right time.
