Why are so many AI experts former theoretical physicists? The connections run really deep.
Surya Ganguli has a great review paper that goes deep on this, giving us understanding of how AI works via statistical physics.

Please join us for Soumajit Dutta’s Soumajit Dutta thesis defense on “Molecular Mechanism of Ligand Induced Regulation of #Cannabinoids Receptors” Friday, Nov 10 at 9:30 am in CLSL B102. ChBE Illinois Diwakar Shukla U of I College of LAS
In this work, we explore the (un)binding mechanism of “street drugs” such as Fubinaca in #cannabinoid receptors using Markov State Models and TRAM to combine biased and unbiased simulations. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Check out our new manuscript explaining the difference between the effects of new psychoactive substances and classical cannabinoids on cannabinoid receptors. Shukla Group We thank the Folding@home donors for providing us computing time for this work.
Our Diwakar Shukla is part of an NSF grant working to develop technology that could recover rare-earth elements & platinum metals from waste streams of U.S. mines.
