RT Wan Yang. Great to see this idea published. Important to consider viral replication & immune response dynamics, which potentially explain ongoing vaccine protection against severe disease & suggest need for additional antibody neutralization assay approaches.

Collectively, we led CDC for over 25 years. Each of us recognized the need for more accurate, timely & comprehensive public health data. But progress was limited by lack of funds and legal authority. To prepare for the next health threat, that must change. bit.ly/3pXAXAr

From what I can see from NYC, people are getting more rapid tests at home, and the number of PCR tests keeps dropping. Most home tests will not go into city surveillance, so infections were even more severely underreported. Let's not pretend this is over...

We have a new paper coming out in Nature Communications. In this study, we analyzed contact tracing records for ~650K COVID-19 cases in NYC during the second wave, reconstructed transmission networks, and evaluated the effects of interventions. 1/ nature.com/articles/s4146…
