There's big data, and there's selecting WHICH data to look at from that group, and that will shape our future knowledge. Who gets to pick?

The furious division over the Gaza/Israel mess on campuses has really illustrated how technology now obfuscates our ability to reliably understand a situation. Every point of view can point to supporting 'evidence.' How can you not be partisan if you think reality supports you?

I'm sure the recently deciphered scroll about Plato is important but I have yet to see a properly detailed account of precisely what is new. There were already many various accounts of Plato's death, including one about listening to flute music on his deathbed.

Here is the 'before' picture from the project I started today: turning my concrete 'yard' into a Japanese garden. Got a baby maple and some ferns from a nursery and a too-short 'path' from Amazon. Moss to come! Note inquisitive beasties in the left foreground.

RT if you agree. This is the US's way forward in global education.

Now we have “From the river to the sea” here at UChicago. The President has said that the encampment is against university policy but will be tolerated for a while because of our commitment to free speech, thus IMHO making a hash of both principles.
