National Refugee-led Advisory & Advocacy Group Chair Shabnam Safa reminds us that the stories portraying refugees as heroes need to change. We protect refugees because they are humans and their stories are diverse. Only when this diversity is reflected we can really embrace and welcome every refugee

Speaking to voters in English, Hazaragi, Farsi & Urdu today about voting yes & standing in solidarity with the First Peoples of this land we now call home. #HazarasForYes volunteers at polling booths across Aus mobilising more than just Hazara communities! #Referendum Yes23
#HazarasforYes out in force on polling booths everywhere!
Incredible to see the solidarity of the Hazara community with First Nations peoples - a huge mobilisation of support and countless volunteer hours.
Love your work Muzafar Ali Shabnam Safa Fida hussain and many more
The precarious situation of the #Hazara people in #Afghanistan has to be highlighted. The Hazara people are consistently oppressed, victimised, persecuted and underrepresented.

A key takeaway for me from this panel was HOW we advocate to #StopHazaraGenocide
While raising awareness of historic & current oppressions of our people is important, we must be careful of the language we use & not generalise. It can be ineffective & at times harmful.
Thanks Shabnam Safa for being a wonderful moderator of the panel discussion at this event. It was an honour to have Pro William Maley, Farkhondeh Akbari & Azada Raz Mohammad speak at the panel.
It was a privilege to attend this event in Dandenong! Well articulated Questions from Host Shabnam Safa to speakers. Brilliant analysis from Dr— Farkhondeh Akbari, Prof— william maley & PHD(c) Azadah Raz Mohammad for their stirring remarks on the 1890s-2023, Hazara massacres & persecution.
Today, Australian-Hazara gathered in #Dandenong in—remembering of the victims of the attack on the Kaaj— Educational Centre and in support of the #Hazara community's fight for equality and justice. Together, we can build a more stable and inclusive future.
