Good explanation of what you saw last night...for us this far South, we see a lot of the reddish pink because at our latitude, we see the upper altitude mostly. We in the South experienced something very unique and possibly once in a lifetime for those that were curious...

Keep checking now & then during the evening, especially 11pm onwards when darkest. They can be faint at first, adjust eyes, ideally in a park away from bright lights. However, they were quite intense last night (for our region). Tip:search via camera night setting/long expo first
