The new bridge on US 29 over Devils Fork Creek in Anderson County recently opened to traffic. It was built alongside the old bridge so US 29 would remain open to traffic during construction. This is one of about 500 bridges in SC that SCDOT is working to rehabilitate or replace.

SCDOT's annual statewide highway litter clean-up event is Thursday, April 4. SCDOT employees will collect litter along South Carolina's highways in counties across the state. As you travel the roads Thursday, please drive cautiously and watch out for SCDOT employees working.

SCDOT Lexington County Maintenance employees were pleased to participate in Career Day at Sandhills Elementary School in Swansea last week, where they showed students equipment they use in their jobs and talked to them about careers in the transportation industry.

Good news: Crews have finished reinforcing the structure of the US 1 bridge over the Wateree River between Lugoff and Camden.

Both lanes of the westbound bridge are now open to traffic. Please continue to use caution and pay attention to crews at work under the bridge.

A rolling work zone is a convoy of vehicles and workers that moves slowly along the road as work is completed. Please slow down, stay alert, and drive cautiously when you encounter a rolling work zone, to keep yourself and SCDOT workers safe.

SCDOT recently raised the bridge on Old Whitmire Highway over I-26 in Newberry County so that it meets modern clearance requirements for vehicles passing underneath. This is one of 8 bridges along this stretch of Interstate 26 (MM 66 to 82) undergoing rehabilitation work.

In Berkeley County, construction work is taking place along a 7-mile stretch of I-26. SCDOT is upgrading infrastructure in this section in connection with upcoming I-26 widening efforts. This is one part of SCDOT's overall effort to Fix I-26.

There is a collision with an overturned Tractor Trailer on Interstate 26 in eastbound at the 112 mile marker.

All east bound lanes are currently closed.

One westbound lane is closed.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured off onto US #1 and US #378

Use caution or seek an alternate route if traveling in that area.

Flaggers direct traffic near active road construction zones. If your trip includes traveling near a work zone, obey the flagger’s signage, be prepared for traffic pattern changes, and drive with caution and patience.
