The southern whiteface (Aphelocephala leucopsis) is a small, finch-like bird commonly seen in arid regions.
They mostly eat insects and arthropods but will also eat seeds and leaves, sometimes joining large mixed-species flocks.

A few flowers I've spotted in and around Mt Gibson recently.
My best guesses at genus based on my limited botanical knowledge: Ptilotus, Tricoryne, Goodenia and Eremophila.

The place where I buy hot chips when I go into town for groceries is shutting down and I'm actually quite sad about it. Not a good omen for a small country town.

Eastern barred bandicoot inspired by a spotlight tour at Mt Rothwell a few years ago. It was an experience I highly recommend. Bandicoots, quolls, bettongs and brush tail rock wallabies doing their thing in a feral predator proof sanctuary. Amazing.
