Capitalising on set pieces is crucial because of the territory we gain consistently. With teams camped deep in their one half, they’ll inevitably concede corners/free kicks, as we have seen and we’ve made full use of this. Keep saying it but Jover has been crucial.

Kai Havertz’s choice for safe passes that promote ball circulation is something he gets criticised for (it’s a fair criticism) however this was needed Vs Liverpool. He was one of a few who wanted control as opposed to making it transition based, which is what Liverpool want.

Rice’s long legs salvage poor passes in build up and it happens many times. But this is to our advantage because the opposition feel they can pounce, only for Rice to intervene, get there first and suddenly more space arises because of that one man taking the risk to overcommit.

Strictly talking performance levels over 90 minutes, Rice, Gabriel and Saliba have been our top three performers imo this season.

Because we’ve got used to it from him, sometimes we take for granted how outrageous some of Saliba’s actions are. Shoulder drops under huge pressure, quick turns, carries etc. He’s on a different planet. I defo need to appreciate it more because it’s not normal. Generational.

The slight benefit Kiwior provides in wide 1v1’s doesn’t outweigh Zinny’s usage on the ball inside the block, hence why Zinny wasn’t hooked. Yes, if there was a Tomi/Timber it would be different but Mikel didn’t have much choice given the options he had at his disposal.

Odegaard was very good. Took responsibility at Anfield, tried to orchestrate play deep and was committed in duels. Yes he may have lost the ball from time to time but he stood up.

If you’re taking Martinelli off, Reiss Nelson must come on imo instead of Trossard if it’s like for like. The former is far better at stretching the pitch vertically and possesses the ability to beat his man from a stand start. Just wish he gets more minutes in the PL.

Draw fair result. What annoyed me outside the first 10 minutes and the last 20 was how we allowed the game to flow the way Liverpool wanted. Many moments required calm actions; not rushed ones. Nullified them however because we have three transition demons at the back.

My word Declan Rice in that second half. A man possessed. The calmness in possession when others panicked, the standard off the ball world class excellence provided. Good Lord. A comp is needed asap.

Get in and get out with something. That’s how you approach Anfield. For large portions, disappointed that we let the game play out the way Liverpool wanted but there was immense levels of maturity in the last 15/20 minutes to achieve a strong result. Top at Christmas, we move.

Big Gabs has a huge role today. Not only to support Wilo Vs the Liverpool CF, whether that’s being the aggressor/sweeper depending on which way Liverpool build but he must ensure Zinny isn’t isolated 1v1 Vs Salah in transition. He will relish the challenge, just like last season.

Ode being given license to float from right to left in all phases, whether that’s in deep build up or upfield has had a great effect in enhancing our on the ball performance. It’s added an extra layer of unpredictability whilst promoting greater levels of fluidity.
