You’d think from comments being made about Thames Water that the choice facing us is either repay its debt or turn the taps off. But what about we just say that the debt can’t be repaid because the company wasted the money it borrowed? That is an option. So why not talk about it?

The only imminent vote in my area is for Police/Fire Commissioner. I think this should be an independent appointment rather than someone supported by political parties but since it isn't has anyone seen any website/articles discussing how to make a political point with this vote?

Chris Patten has just murdered the party of which he was Chairman. It’s all in here - the bilge of Brexit, the worst foreign policy error ever made, and the insanity of the right wing cult’s grip on this once great political machine. Pure gold, spread it.

Cost of living still rising, child poverty at record levels, worst drop in living standards of any G7 country, public services collapsing, housing crisis, govt failure everywhere…and you want a round of applause for this…which isn’t even down to you.
Call an election or zip it.

Jacob Rees-Mogg says 'postpone net-zero indefinitely' (via PA). He argues one reason is US economy is growing faster than UK's.

Feels like a good moment to note the US has embarked on a far more ambitious green plan than the UK, spending $370bn on clean energy.

Truss's decline is simultaneously tragic & horrifying but the claim that the media conspired against her can't go unchallenged. There are literal front pages praising her to the rafters & Telegraph comment writers in particular couldn't get enough. She was undone by reality.
