The faces of the boys in these videos are always marked by smug glee. Comfortable power brokers mocking anyone who challenges the system that cradles them. It’s never determination. Or resilience. Or heartfelt belief. Just the glee of impunity and privilege.

'If everything's honest, I'd gladly accept the results. If it's not, you have to fight for the right of the country.'

STOP the violent repression of students protesting to end the genocide in Gaza!
Defend these courageous students & faculty!
These protests are just.
Arresting, brutalizing, & punishing these student w suspensions & expulsions is unjust. It’s not that complicated!

Really bad. Along with gaslighting Americans-- the police never lost their power-- this is a message to lawless elements of the police, telling them he has their back for whatever crimes they commit. Giving a pass for violence is how dictators build up security forces.

'Its hard to overstate the degree of outrage & betrayal on behalf of the faculty.. the irony that in the name of student safety the encampment will be facing a militarised police invasion.. its hard to say fully many of the faculty are finding this'

Here on @Dartmouth Green for an emergency faculty meeting in response to deployment state riot and SWAT cops last night. Five of the College’s six House Professors are here; the sixth isn’t because they were arrested and are now banned from the Green.

This piece from Tess Owen looking at how militias have been organizing at a local level on Facebook for the last couple of years and are ramping up efforts to prepare for war as the election nears, is terrifying (and an exclusive)

i wrote about where the 'unite the right' and jan. 6 comparisons regarding the campus anti-war protests seem to be taking us. hint: it's very bad. postsfromunderground.ghost.io/on-campus-prot…

Florida's 6-week abortion ban is in effect today -- shutting down the last safe haven in the Southeast.

I've written on political dissent & violent policing for 15 years, particularly in NYC. Compared to Tuesday night, I have never witnessed, at the scene of a protest, the use of police power so disproportionate to the type of demonstration taking place. theintercept.com/2024/05/01/nyc…

Just watch the first two minutes. You hear tasers going off; students are screaming throughout. They are thrown to the ground, assaulted.

We see the police throw students down the stairs as the cops also push away press.

This video is just 5 minutes of what happened tonight.

The brave students at Columbia and other universities have held a mirror to the face of the US empire. The state uses extreme force against its own children at home in a futile attempt to crush their dissent against the state's facilitation of a genocide abroad.

It’s quite something that this is how our nation is responding to people disrupting the conscience of the society by saying “mass graves are bad,” “incinerating babies is bad” and “our community and our nation ought not be a part of it.”
