Great way to end the week - the 100 authors of #FreeLoavesonFridays are this month’s “Heroes of the month” at Children & Young People Now. Not all heroes wear capes (but some go by the name of Kirsty Capes 🦸🏻♀️).
Such a heartfelt reflection of last month’s book launch in the podcast below:
Thanks so much for giving me a copy of #FreeLoavesonFridays Hannah Rich

I am recovering from “man flu” so unable to tackle the back log of work, so instead reading my backlog of books. Huge thanks Rebekah Pierre for my signed copy of Free Loaves on Fridays, moving and thought provoking accounts of surviving the “care” system. The UK must do better.
Now listening to Rebekah Pierre on #FreeLoavesonFriday !
For better, fairer and more inclusive #ChildProtection systems in Europe empowering children and their parents, which take into account the over representation of people from very low income backgrounds! #PovertyMatters

So happy to see Rebekah Pierre telling the uncomfortable truth. It's a must watch for everyone. The system is failing and failing the children in it. Nobody should profit from a child entering care.
£300mn profit LAST YEAR from youth care sector privatisation

The privatisation of the care sector is out of control. As I say, 3 weeks in “care” (i.e. an unregulated hostel costing up to £7k pw) should NOT equate to 3 years at university.
Respect Pod Save the UK for allowing uncensored discussion on this whilst talking #FreeLoavesonFridays .
