25 June 1944

This 17 Pounder crew deployed near Norrey-en-Bessin have every reason to look chuffed, they had already knocked out a Panther tank that morning.

Just got home from Normandy to be told I am in a national paper today with the late Harry Howarth. He was remembered on Saturday when we passed Douvres…

A casual reminder that Nazi Germany fucked around & found out, thus started WW2.

If people struggle to accept this, they should eat raw crayons.

Some more evidence (for that thread) WW2Talk that the QF 3.7” Heavy Anti-Aircraft gun was used in the ground role against tanks.
The first time I’ve seen recorded evidence of it being used in this role was at Boulogne in 1940.

More fake Nazi crap for sale on FB.

Spied this for sale.

There were piles of these repro pieces at War and Peace Show in 2010 to 2015 or so.

All with the same wear and tear.

Strange that!

Some great Mulberry harbour images here.

Their success was contributed to by the 712th Landing Craft (Survey) Flotilla, which paid a number of clandestine visits to the Normandy beaches to carry out hydrographic surveys in specially adapted landing craft. (📸 IWM A 24068)

This grisly activity underpins the vile 'relic' militaria market.

Human remains are routinely skipped across Europe.

Amazing! Not only does this Royal Tank Regiment war diary record detailed tank losses in the appendices, someone has kindly sketch where the tanks were hit 80 years ago!

On 4 June 1944, 7 Green Howards embarked a Landing Ship Infantry (LSI), ready for the invasion.

‘Southampton harbour was crammed with hundreds and hundreds of small ships and thousands of trucks, loaded with troops, as we were.’
