33 years ago, this mother was born in war, then she was killed yesterday in war.

today; In the same war of plundering diamonds and gold; her infant child became a deprived orphan, and 7 million other victims; Media coverage is still non-existent.

In case anyone feels like the war has somehow died down because the news is largely about student encampments and not Gaza. It's still ongoing, Palestinians are still being murdered, and Israel must be stopped

Qlques exemples 🧵

Two further things to note. The man tried to taint protestors through association with a van parked outside, playing recordings of the pro-Assad Press TV (Iranian state media) host Richard Medhurst who among other things has been accused of grooming vulnerable underaged girls.

Long thread but do read it all way thru, or read it on Raphael Mimoun’s blog!

Many messages, but to take just one highlight:
“Anti-Zionism is as old as Zionism, including within the Jewish community, and it is a legitimate political position.”

Students aren't mindless robots, willing to follow any extremist leader who is charismatic or convincing enough. Your lack of faith in young people is both sad & delusional. Students are there because they believe in the cause and because achieving change requires radical action.

I understand not everyone has experience protesting or spending on the ground inside movements, but come on let's get real for a second. This is a situation of active conflict. Not a debate club.

It's a freaking occupation, with an impending risk of violent police attack at any moment. Of course people were tense. Nobody wants to have a debate about the one state vs two state solution.People are there to take a stance, make their voices heard, and pressure the university.

3. Ahmed felt unsafe because people were masked. Though he makes clear that 'no one attacked me or said anything to me about the t-shirt', he was very disappointed that 'the environment was not conducive to dialogue, talking, discussions, debates, or anything of the sort'. Dude.
