First harvest of favas yesterday Popelouchum This is always a particularly pleasurable time of year for me.

Lovely day in the vineyard, flying drones. I worked not more than 10 minutes in the Pinot block before plunging my arm into a clump of poison oak.

Not entirely sure of my thought process in scheduling important business calls at ungodly early hours.

Immensely saddened to hear of the death of Paul Auster, one of my literary heroes. Alas, never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but his books line the shelves of my library.

Delighted to receive a delegation of foreign journos Popelouchum yesterday afternoon. Ever more convinced that like Jerry Lewis, my work is more easily understood and perhaps better appreciated by non-Americans.

Struggled through filling out County Pesticide Use report (for 2023). Mercifully completed though not without significant gnashing of teeth and rending of etc.

None of us were much amused, certainly not the Entertainment (in DFW’s parlance) of Record.

Today’s Republican Party has been revealed by Trump to be anti-democratic, pro-Russian, pro-guns, pro-billionaires, pro-insurrection, anti-women and anti-LGBTQ, is out of step with the majority of Americans.

Ignore the polls and vote them all out.

It’s up to us.

It’s back to the vineyard today with the hoeing crew. Still, alas, a bit in the weeds.

My first memorial service via Zoom. Slightly disembodied feeling of course. Saying goodbye to one of my favorite human beings, the marvelous Gerald Fried.

It’s Saturday and that means desk work, at the moment, an expense report. I’ve been on the go in no small measure.
