May 9th 1982: #OTD in the #Falklands War, two Argentine A-4C Skyhawks of FAA Grupo 4 are lost in bad weather and crash. One is later found on South Jason Island, the second is never found. Lieutenants Casco and Farias are killed... It is becoming an expensive day for Argentina.

May 9th 1982: Picking up the Mayday calls of the ARA Narwal, Argentine forces send a Puma helicopter with three crew to hopefully recover the men of the boat, unaware that she is now in British hands. HMS Coventry fires a Sea Dart and the Puma is destroyed with all hands lost.

May 9th 1982: At first light, FAA Lear Jets of Fenix Squadron scramble from Rio Grande air base towards the task force in order to provide false radar signatures simulating a sortie, hoping to draw away the British ships, but they are already heading back out to sea...

May 8th 1982: Covered by her sister ships spreading 'noise' and confusing the Argentine radars, HMS Alacrity approaches the Falklands by night, ready to reopen the bombardment. It has been a week since the May 1st bombardment and Argentina shows no sign of coming to terms...

May 8th 1982: HMS Brilliant probes towards Falkland Sound from the south, looking for Argentine shipping but finds none, it is hoped that the Argentine Navy will now stay away and let the task force get on with the job, as the bombardment opens again tonight...
