We're building power by building community. Today we had lunch in East New York with one of our new members who's a leader in her community. Impacted by both crime and incarceration, she's excited to get to work––and we're excited for her help in growing our support in Brooklyn.

'For more than 20 years, I served one of the most miserable sentences while rooting for one of the most miserable teams in sports... I can’t give up on the Knicks, and I can’t give up on myself.' Very moving story by Darrell Powell Prison Journalism Project: prisonjournalismproject.org/2024/04/24/new…

Darrell Powell was offered a plea with a promised sentence of 9 to 18 years. He went to trial and ended up with LWOP. He has served 25 years. Governor Kathy Hochul you have the power to fix this - in the name of fundamental decency commute his sentence, please
