As I told ⁦Natassia Chrysanthos⁩ important lessons can be learnt from this pandemic. GPs and practice teams must be front of mind and adequately resourced and supported. That includes sufficient personal protective equipment and being kept in the loop. smh.com.au/politics/feder…

Current situation- still no power or mobile coverage, currently 34°C heading for a high of 36°C, and a new storm system forecast over the weekend. I’m at work charging devices and preparing for a new medical student cohort next week.😬

What an inspiring life story. Growing up in North West Tassie, Paul Hanson couldn't read, and couldn't write. Later diagnosed with Dyslexia, Dr Hanson said he internalised his disability as him 'being dumb'. Now, he is RACGP Tasmanian GP of the Year.

The RACGP submission to the COVID-19 Response Inquiry Panel stresses that GPs must be formally recognised as frontline healthcare providers in pandemic preparation, response, and recovery. Anything less will compromise our ability to keep our communities safe. Full stop.

There are so many procedures that women endure with little or no pain relief. I have friends and family with awful stories, even in recent weeks, of invasive and painful procedures with insufficient consent or warnings, and no offered pain relief …

GPs and practice teams in flood-affected areas are going above and beyond to care for patients and must be recognised as essential health services. When disasters strike, we are on the frontline supporting our patients and communities – we will do whatever it takes.

Getting an IUD inserted is absolute *AGONY* in my experience. Many male medical professionals over the years have told me it's 'just cramping'. It's not, Mr Man. Pity it takes decades to listen to women's voices.

It's about time. As Sarah Booth reports Peninsula Health is offering a ‘green whistle’ delivering a fast-acting painkiller to patients getting IUDs. Healthcare has become accustomed to expecting women will endure unnecessary pain. That must change.

As I told Sunrise - drugs used for weight loss may seem appealing to many people, but we must be cautious. Rigorous regulatory oversight, quality control, and consideration of potential side effects and complications must be front of mind to keep patients safe.

This is concerning. As Liam Mannix reports - Australia’s childhood vaccination rates have fallen for the second consecutive year. Combating vaccine scepticism must be a priority, and we must ensure all families have access to affordable GP care.
