.Lewisham Council is using a product called ProxyAddress to match homeless individuals with virtual addresses tied to vacant buildings. This makes it easier for those experiencing homelessness to apply for jobs, get bank accounts, & access vital services.

The #homelessness issue is a massive, complex load to solve. But by seeking “solutions for now,” like providing a ProxyAddress to help residents get back on their feet, local governments can find small wins that still improve the lives of their citizens.

🏡Michael Gove pledges 30,000 new *social rent* homes per year. Promising to see the focus shift from the often unaffordable 'affordable' homes. Now to tackle the hole left by Right to Buy. #HousingCrisis #SocialHomes #MichaelGove

🏠 UK rents hit record high with a 5.1% annual increase – while the local housing allowance rates remain frozen at April 2020 levels. Change is needed to prevent a surge in evictions and homelessness. #Homelessness #AffordableHousing #UKRents

🏠 Homelessness is a symptom shared by a variety of traumas. It's crucial to change how we discuss it and recognize that the underlying issues stem not from personal failure but from 13 years of erosion to the UK's societal safety net. #Homelessness #TraumaAwareness

Last year 129,000 under-25s approached their council as homeless and we know the true scale could be double. #Planforthe129k We’ve joined the campaign for a strategy to end youth #Homelessness, to raise the alarm & share the solutions for every young person facing homelessness.

Last year, 129,000 young people in the UK were homeless or at risk – an unacceptable number! There must be a #PlanForThe129k – that’s why we’ve joined 90+ organisations to call for a governmental strategy to end youth #homelessness.

I wrote for Inside Housing about a scheme to overhaul homelessness services, trialled in Lewisham - with results the like of which I've never seen in 2 decades reporting on housing. Could this simple algorithm eliminate chronic homelessness? insidehousing.co.uk/insight/the-un…
