Interesting stats from Super League.

🏉Head/neck height tackles ⬇️ (13% to 4.2%)
🏉 Concussion rates per 1000 hours ⬇️ (18.2 to 15.63)
🏉Use of IMG ⬆️ (15% to 75%)
🏉Penalty count stabilised (58 per round)

Extreme backlash to changes but a dramatic shift in player behaviour.

Some excellent concussion insight here FrejaPetrie and worth engaging Michele Amos to discuss further.

🏉Concussed players can feel isolated during recovery
🏉Volunteer medical support often lack knowledge on concussion protocol
🏉Players want more info on recovery

“As much as we strive to enhance player safety and reduce concussion, the reality is a level of risk will always be present. However, acknowledging this reality does not absolve us of the responsibility to continuously work towards minimising these risks.”

RIP Cory Heather. The outpouring of grief has been incredibly moving.

Wish NZ media didn’t persist with the term ‘head knock’ in such devastating circumstances.

It doesn’t accurately reflect the gravity of the brain injury Cory was unfortunate enough to sustain on Saturday.

🏉Rugby’s brilliant and offers awesome health and social benefits

🧠Our brain is amazing, a precious control centre that defines who we are

They’re not mutually exclusive, we can play the game and better protect brains of those that live playing it👍🏻

A great example of how culture eats strategy for breakfast.

“I’m going to make myself clear mate, tired and sore people don’t play for England.”

Eddie Jones to Jonny May when he rated himself 2/5 after a tough club game.

Message was received and players routinely marked high.

The 🟥 for Assia Khalfaoui is a desperately sad end to her tournament to which she’s brought so much.

But you’ve got to be more careful arriving at the breakdown with the current laws.

Would like to have seen Talling leave for a HIA too.

That’s really weak from the officiating team. But Care not dismissed and his replacement scores.

Saints fans must be furious.

An unsightly stain on a great match.

The question isn’t whether it’s 🟨. It is.

It’s whether both should go for a HIA.

And irrespective of their relative sizes, a reminder the brain is the one muscle neither can work out in the gym.

This game is exhilarating and just the antidote needed to that dire offering.

A stark reminder that power’s nothing without control.
