Regarding the Modi succession, I do have a follow-up question (and I do read your comments). Would Yogi Adityanath (मोदी का परिवार) be welcomed as a PM and party leader at BJP headquarters in Delhi? I get the feeling that many BJP/RSS organization men might not want to work under the Yogi.

I'm surprised that a third of you would expect Amit Shah to succeed Modi. He doesn't really strike me as much of a politician. Nor does Dr. Jaishankar, the leading write-in candidate. But I was impressed by many of the other write-ins. The BJP really does have a strong bench.

Shouldn't every political party want to win every seat? In a well-functioning democracy, it's the responsibility of opposing parties to work hard to unseat the incumbent, not the responsibility of the incumbent to leave seats for their opponents.

Answering criticisms of the Indian Century Roundtable from Coin and others: the organization is not-for-profit, donors receive no tax breaks under Australian law, and I take no payments for my work. That makes me, in effect, the largest donor to the organization.

Thank you sincerely to everyone who has donated to the Indian Century Roundtable launch fund. The think tank is now well and truly launched, but we still need your support. I promise to do my best to earn it. gofundme.com/f/indian-centu…

Indians may be in the process of electing their next government, but is India even a democracy? Rahul, Arvind, and Sweden's Varieties of Democracy Institute say no. I say yes. Read my analysis of the V-Dem democracy rankings at the at The India Journal:

Wealth is very sticky across generations. What this report really says is that the areas of pre-Partition India where Muslims were wealthiest were more likely to become part of Pakistan.

ANNOUNCEMENT: my next research paper for the Indian Century Roundtable will focus on the 'STATUS OF KASHMIR' (actually Jammu & Kashmir, but international audiences are unaware of PoJ). Please consider supporting my new think tank with a donation at: gofundme.com/f/indian-centu…

A fantastic on-the-ground good news story from by Ankit Saxena Swarajya. Ignore the election headline and just read the article. I wish I could buy one of Mr. Prajapati's pots!
