If you pay off your loans in the standard 10 years and move on, these rates will wallop you.

If you make the absolute minimum payment under the SAVE plan and extend repayment over 20 years, after which your loans are forgiven, these rates won't matter.

Perverse incentives.

This is good watchdog work. After a UAlbany student was nearly killed, the Albany County Sheriff seized almost as many dirt bikes in Albany in a day as the Albany (city) Police Department did in three years.

This is part of why labor unions love 'card check,' where employees aren't allowed to use a secret ballot and instead get exposed to strong-arming.

Disagree w. Chris Churchill's push for $3.5B rebuild of I-787 in Albany but proponents should know this would be much less costly (more doable) in nearly any other state. NY's prevailing wage and trial-lawyer giveaways are why we can't have nice things.

Hard to argue for rushing the resolution when proponents wanted it placed on the 2024 ballot instead of 2023.

After Albany passed a $4B giveaway for public employees, some major league quiet-part-out-loud:

“The unions provide manpower and they write checks, and both are needed in election years,” Sheinkopf said. “Political costs outweigh economic costs.”

Coming up on Friday: We're going to examine New York's newly enacted 'MCO tax' -- and how it fits into the state's long history of heavily taxing health insurance.

Here's the CUNY faculty union looking to get the criminal charges dropped for the CUNY faculty who obstructed police at City College.

Question for Governor Kathy Hochul: why are they still CUNY faculty?
