Small arrival of hirundines over pond, in field opposite house, during a rain shower. Hide Martins, Swallows & my 1st patch Sand Martins of the year

Quick walk around the village this afternoon after getting back from Hilbre Bird Obs. Pleased to find my 1st Yellow Wagtail of the year with 18+ Pied Wagtails in a sheep field

Lovely to be able to see Barn Owls so close to our house last night. Shame they’ve seen off the Little Owls though

Another Little Egret on the flooded field in front of the house this evening. Appears to be catching plenty of newts

Can’t say I’ve really noticed many liverworts locally but think this is Marchantia polymorpha

1st Mallard brood of the spring waddling their way across the field to the pond opposite house.

Brambling have been scarce locally this winter so really pleased to see my 1st of the year in the garden this evening!

Not quite the flock of birds I was hoping to see on the wet field opposite the house!

My 1st House Martins of the year have just arrived at our neighbours house where they nest every year. Lovely to hear them back again. I do believe summer might at last be on its way!
