Hello! I am here to share what I've learned in my gender-affirming voice class from a clinical perspective and the info and resources I've gathered. Please keep in mind that I'm only a graduate student in speech pathology and not yet licensed. This is informational only. 1/x

Also, please note that I am a cisgender woman and my perspective on gender-affirming voice therapy for transgender and nonbinary individuals comes from a clinical perspective, not a personal one. 2/x

This is entry-level information and intended to inform anyone out there who doesn't know much but is interested in learning. Voice therapy is NOT A REQUIREMENT for anyone transitioning, but it's there as an option if you want it and you have access. 3/x

dysphonia. My larynx was damaged from long period of intubation, so my personal range of pitch and resonance is limited. However, for musicians and singers, this should all be familiar to you! 6/x

Watch the video I posted earlier and play with your voice. Where do you fall in that quadrant? Try adjusting your pitch and resonance and see all the different kinds of voices you can make! But first, what do I mean by vocal resonance? 7/x

Vocal resonance means where in the body your voice 'vibrates' the most. A brighter, more 'feminine' voice resonates higher in the mouth and nose, whereas a darker, more 'masc' voice resonates in the back and chest. Try it out. 8/x
