A1: It would be fun to use longitude & latitude to locate places for events in the Olympics. Then, lots of work with comparing, ordering, adding/ subtracting decimals for many different events. Built in engagement!

QUESTION 6:
The changing colors of the leaves in fall or tree buds blooming in the spring can be the perfect excuse to get outside and learn a little science. How might you use the outdoors for some quick learning?

A5 - My class put on an Arbor Day Event for our community with the mayor and local community members at a local park. We planted a tree, listened to the mayor's speech, performed a skit that we wrote, and sang songs that we rehearsed in music: psolarz.weebly.com/arbor-day.html

Yes! I think we used that in 2016 as well! I retired in 2019, so 2016 was our last election together too. Every presidential election, new tools become available and seem like wonderful ways to introduce civics to students!

A4) It’s hard to teach Pre k about this topic. But for Election Day, I did teach them what voting is. Best way to teach them was to have them vote between an oreo cookie or a chocolate chip cookie

QUESTION 4:
Presidential Elections (or Prime Minister Elections) only happen every four years. Obviously, actual politics can be controversial, but do you do anything to teach your students about civics or government on these cycles? If so, what and how?

A3 - Way back when we got the newspaper in our classroom every day for every student for free thanks to 'Newspapers in Education' we would track the medal count and create bar graphs to represent the data.

We would also locate each participating country on the map!
