I have today spoken to the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, following Ireland’s recognition of the state of Palestine.

I told the President that I, on behalf of the people of Ireland, was recognising Palestine to keep the hopes of a two-state peace solution alive.

At the United Nations media stakeout today, Ambassador Dr. Riyad Mansour comments on the positive news from Europe & reiterated support for the State of Palestine, & its recognition which is taking momentum around the globe 🇵🇸🇪🇸🇳🇴🇮🇪
