While Paris captures all the headlines, Lyon is quietly undergoing its own vélorution.

“Les Voies Lyonnaises” will invest €500 million in 396 kilometers of infrastructure by 2030—putting 99% of its 2.3 million metropolitan residents within 10 minutes of a high-quality facility.

Tirana still has far to go on its journey to becoming a livable city. But it has taken big strides with little actions in recent years.

It proves good urbanism doesn’t require big budgets and visions; more important is political leadership and a desire to improve people’s lives.

Cars are getting wider. It’s NOT necessarily our girth as we struggle to get out of our parked cars Good Morning Britain This will have consequences on public urban space if cities plan for more parking space. Liveable cities need more human space, planted areas, pavements, bike lanes

Guidance from experts in cycling infrastructure is an important asset to tap into. No need to reinvent the wheel, it’s too risky and the work has already been done, tried & tested elsewhere even if no 2 cites are alike 😉

Unless otherwise corrected. It seems that school drop off along Europort Avenue for St Martin’s School this morning went rather well

Phase 2 of pop up bicycle lane east to west along Europort Avenue is completed up to Chilton Ct. entrance. Simple, segregated, protected, safe & inexpensive, but above all effective. It addresses the issue of cars parked on the bike lane too Well done John Cortes

⚠️⚠️Warning Cyclists ⚠️⚠️
I saw this yesterday & should have moved it but there were too many people in the area watching. Sorry! Disconnect Reconnect, look out for this carelessly placed works sign which is difficult to see as you come around the sharp corner

French Revolution: Cyclists Now Outnumber Motorists In Paris

“The way Parisians are now traveling from the suburbs to the city center, especially during peak periods, has undergone a revolution thanks in part to the building of many miles of cycleways.”

Shocked this morning to see the carefree & negligent placing of traffic signs on bike lanes. Common sense & learning basic traffic rules is critical. Thanks John Cortes for taking my call & prompt action, agreeing that I move all signs to make bike lane safe 🙏

Stop De Kindermoord was the start of that cycling revolution that made Amsterdam what it is today. A city who were determined to put an end to these accidents and deaths as a result of the introduction of the car and defined the shape of this road sharing Mecca

Great news for all European Cyclists today. The EU moves on to provide bigger and better things for cyclists who then in turn contribute to a cleaner and greener environment. Congratulations
