Sombre shadows in the chapel of Bloxham School this morning. The grave cross is that of Bugler Harry Ayres (5th OBLI), who died 7.7.15 in Norfolk War Hospital of wounds received at Ypres. He worked at the school before the war, as did his parents, and died on his 18th birthday.

Cadets from our CCF contingent recently travelled to Crowborough to join hundreds of other young people for the annual camp. They spent a night in the field under 'bashas' where, despite some thunderstorms, the weather was mostly kind! All worked hard and gained special memories.

If you're in Covent Garden this summer, do look out for The Tusk Gorilla Trail. OB Hannah Shergold Art (Ry 98-03), an ambassador of Tusk, has designed one of the 15 life-sized gorillas, to help raise awareness for the conservation of Gorillas across Africa.

Huge congratulations to OBs Barney Williams (Sy 08-10) and Sam Ryan (Cr 06-11) on their continued success with Zeelo and expansion into the US market.

Huge congratulations to OB Sam Church (Cr 14-21) who has been umpiring the U21s in Dusseldorf. He started umpiring Bloxham School, officiating in school and house matches, as well as OB games, and has been an England Hockey umpire since 2019. Well done on your achievements Sam!

A few days ago, a few former members of Bloxham School staff met for their annual lunch at The Red Lion. A fantastic afternoon was had by all with much reminiscing and laughter. With special thanks to Simon Batten for the photo.

Well done to teachers Claire and Cathy who completed the Berlin marathon over the weekend and were still back in school on Monday morning! The pair reached their fundraising target for Place2Be, a charity providing mental health support in schools, raising over £1800.

It was a great pleasure to welcome Bishop Jonathan Meyrick, the School Provost, to preach at our school services last week. Bishop Jonathan spoke on the importance of compassion, humility, kindness, patience, and forgiveness as the foundations for our communities.

We're delighted to announce fantastic results in our first clay pigeon shooting fixture of this year at Marlborough. Despite it being the first time many of the team had shot competitively, the As came second out of 40 teams with the Bs coming 16th - congratulations!

A great experience for the Bloxham School Sport 1st XV to play Christ College at the historic Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday. A late penalty won a very tight game for Brecon 18-15. Excellent to see a good Old Bloxhamist turnout in support.
