Rhamnus cathartica (Purging Buckthorn) in woodland just South of Kinvarra. A really nice find and possibly only my second time seeing this species of tree. A strongly calcicolous shrub. BSBI Ireland BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

I brought my camera up the Castletroy Greenway to get a photo of this tiny Common Stork's-bill flower I'd spotted a few days ago. Was surprised to find some even tinier Wall Speedwell close by and the solitary bee Andrena Wilkella, a first for me.

Some key finds from my botanising today. Cephalanthora longifolia (Sword-leaved Helleborine), and Chelidonium majus (Greater Celandine). First time for me for both of these species in Co. Galway. The Chelidonium was growing on walls of a ruined monastery. #Botany #Orchids
