The South African roadster used Volkswagen Golf GTI mechanicals with a mid-mounted 1.8L engine. Dated to 1990, it did not make production.

The extremely elusive #Porsche Varrera prototype, a study for a Volkswagen Sharan-based MPV with the 911's flat-six engine.

Conceived early in the Sharan's development in the late-1980s, it was ultimately canned with little trace of the project's existence today.

...Aston Martin recently launched another ultra-limited, DBR1-inspired speedster in the form of the DBR22.

Based on the Vantage-derived V12 Speedster, its 5.2L twin-turbo V12 was tweaked to 705hp. Rumours suggested 22 will be built for ~£1.5m apiece.
