In the recent flash flood in Eastern #Afghanistan, a WFP-supported protection wall saved 3000 families and over 700 acres of agricultural land. Investing in long-term solutions like these, helps families stay on their land, grow food, and feed their children.

Rising temperatures in Afghanistan are worsening water scarcity. 67% of households struggle to access water (up from 48% in 2021). Rural households travel 17 mins on average to fetch water & urban households pay twice as much as in previous years. #WorldWaterWeek #ActForHumanity

"Women & children would walk 4-5 kms to fetch water. Many families left this village as there was no clean drinking water". UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency with Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan support, has helped nearly 200 households in Dangam district, Kunar, access potable water via a solar-powered water pipe scheme.

Humanitarian response continues for #flood-affected families in Kabul, Nangarhar, Parwan & Panjshir Provinces. So far, 594 families have received emergency shelter, food, cash assistance, non-food items & WASH kits. #ActForHumanity #HumanitarianAid

The winter wheat season starts at the end of September. Food and Agriculture Organization will provide 700 000 families with seeds, fertilizers, and training to enable them secure wheat for a year. FAO requires $30 million before end of August to help an additional 300 000 families. #InvestInHumanity
