Last night our Forensic Vehicle Examiners ( #FVEs ) joined Pc Lee - Safer Roads Team and Northants Roads Policing Team working alongside West Northamptonshire Council performing safety and compliance checks on taxis and private hire vehicles.

Sadly the minority let tyres and lights put them off the road #prohibited .

The driver of this 3500kg #Van passed our South Wales team with the door open🚔

Although the cans said ‘light’ on them, they were not!🍺

41.82% overload axle 1, 53.33% axle 2 & 65.43% on the gross vehicle weight ⚖️

They were issued a fine & costs in excess of £3000 at court🧑‍⚖️

Today we bid farewell to one of our Forensic Collision Investigators ( #FCI ).

Front & centre is Sgt Crossland.

He served in the Armed Forces before joining Northants Police 22 years ago working across many departments.

He leaves us to start a new chapter with NHS

1 driver thought that the 60mph limit didn't apply to them and chose to speed towards our van at 106mph!
Speeds like this belong on a track, NOT the public road.

Pedal cycle seen travelling at speeds up to 35mph through Northampton.
When stopped it was found to have a 1000w motor built into the rear wheel.
It now becomes a motor vehicle.

Rider needs a driving licence
Vehicle needs register and insurance.

We're appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision near Willoughby. A man in his 30s died following a two-vehicle collision on Longdown Lane between Dunchurch and Daventry around 2.40pm this afternoon➡️bit.ly/3DtjKoR

This tyre was on a 44T lorry. Driver was fined and given points. Vehicle was prohibited until fixed. Driver will also be referred to the Office of Traffic Commissioner as will the company operating it. This shows the value of pro-active Police and DVSA inspections. #JOUCVU
