To prevent AI from unleashing a bioweapon, just do the following:

A) Control actual bioweapons technology

B) Monitor whether people are asking AI about bioweapons

C) Focus on safety for agentic AI, which might try to build bioweapons on its own

Don't get me wrong, I have concerns about industrial policy. But more libertarian arguments seem to exist in a historical vacuum, as if Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China didn't exist or their policies are handwaved away. 1/

Another trans-Atlantic divergence: while the European working-age population is expected to shrink over the next decade, America's is growing.

I believe that all the negative labor market effects of AI can be prevented with one simple regulation:

Reserve some percent of energy and other resources for non-AI human use.

I think it's important to distinguish between:

— Is Gaza hurting Biden in the eyes of the public because voters are pro-Palestinian? (no)

— Does it hurt Biden that many progressive opinion influencers are spending an election year attacking him from the left? (probably)

The reality is dawning on what this war means for Europe, and Putin gearing up for a long war only makes it more clear. Not surprised a Baltic state is thinking of taking the lead

Important from Michael Tomasky: Under Biden, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been created in every one of the key swing states of PA, MI, AZ, NV and GA. In WI, it's nearly 100K. Broken out by state, the numbers are really striking.

race physiognomy in the 19th and 20th century was like 'ah so you see how the jew is truly an oriental mongrel' and today it's like 'ah so you see how the jew is clearly a pallid european'
