Discover Irish Children's Books We believe - for so many reasons - that Irish children’s books matter.
At every event I asked the teachers to help us. To introduce Irish children’s books into the classroom. To actively encourage children to read Irish children’s books. To talk to them about the writers.
Some observations after doing 6 school events in 3 days with 3rd to 6th class children.
1/ Events matter. The children I spoke to remembered previous visits from Shane Hegarty and Nicola Pierce
2/ When asked about favourite books, most children are saying the same few names…

My children's novel about the Siege of Derry, published by The O'Brien Press in 2015. The siege began 335 years ago on this day.
