Male feeding his female, giving her a few moments away from brooding her eggs.

The first feed is generally delivered at the nest, with subsequent feeds taking place outside as she follows the male out of the nesting site.

A beach clean down at Port Nan Gallen this afternoon, a pretty thankless task due to years of waste being pushed in by strong tidal currents.

But the volunteers and myself managed to get stuck in and clear a good amount!

Rewarded with a Flapper Skate Egg case!

One super playful Bottlenose 🐬

The fishing boat Lucky Lucy, that we get all the shellfish for our Seafood Tours from, was coming into the yard to get some work done. But this dolphin had other ideas!

What a treat, just outside our office ☺️

My pleasure Leo! Great to meet you both.

Glad we managed to get connected with so many key Islay species on such limited time!

A male Yellowhammer made an appearance on the farm yesterday.

An uncommon visitor to this part of the island, and the first I’ve seen on the farm in two years.

One of two Cuckoo here at Kinnabus, RSPB Scotland The Oa, this afternoon.

Early arrival for a species we generally don’t get sightings of until later in the month, Storm Kathleen no doubt playing a part in that.

Wheatear arriving on RSPB Scotland the Oa, Islay, this week. Soon they’ll be abundant!

The females seemed happier to be snapped than the males.

Definitely a highlight of my working week, 3 otter cubs play fighting off the reserve coast yesterday.

Mum was nearby, she is doing well to rear three cubs out here! You go girl!

Greenland White-fronted Geese.

The seasonal tenure of these distinctive, migratory geese is almost at its end once again, here on Islay.

Hopefully a successful breeding season lies ahead for them, numbers of juveniles has been incredibly low this winter.
