First Alopecosa barbipes this week. A large female, Burnham Overy. BAS Is it normal to find them in burrows like this? I usually just find them above ground.
Male Spoonbills can fight fiercely at this time of year and it is not unusual to see birds with blood stained plumage. One regular form of attack is grabs of the lower leg. This one had received the treatment, although not seen one with so much blood before. GแแSแฎแ Werkgroep Lepelaar
Little Egrets back at the heronry this week. Lots of necks out display flights going on.. or.. circle flights in heron jargon.... Every Heron ๐๐
Very occasionally I see Grey Herons and Great Whites descend in a mad zig zagging drop. Not quite whiffling, more like a visual announcement of arrival at the heronry. Being trying for years to capture the moment...nearly succeeded today .๐ Every Heron ๐๐
A male hatched about 2 miles from where its currently setting up shop. Hatched in 2020. Went from Holkham to Yorkshire now he's back. Thanks to harrierman๐ง๐ผ for the info
